Brookhaven GOP re-elects chairman Jesse Garcia

JENNIFER GUSTAVSON FILE PHOTO | Jesse Garcia will serve his fourth term as the Brookhaven GOP's leader.
The Brookhaven Republican Committee unanimously approved this week to re-elect its chairman Jesse Garcia to serve a 4th term as its leader.
Mr. Garcia said his goals for the coming election in November include regaining a GOP majority on the Brookhaven Town Board, sending three new Brookhaven Republicans to the Suffolk County Legislature and electing Angie Carpenter as County Executive.
“When faced with a challenge, the Brookhaven Town Republican Committee has stood up when it counted and clearly demonstrated the full strength and electoral force of the Brookhaven Republican Party,” Mr. Garcia said.
Mr. Garica’s recent accomplishments include incumbent Jane Bonner’s victory over Republican challenger Raymond Negron in this month’s GOP primary for the 2nd Council District seat on the Brookhaven Town Board. Ms. Bonner, a Conservative, won the Sept. 13 election with 73.7 percent of the vote.
“The committee member is the heart, soul and spirit of the Republican organization,” he said in an e-mail to committee members. “On your shoulders stand the candidates and elected officials of our committee who, by your direction, protect the interest of the taxpayers each and every day.”
