Frank J. Carasiti
Frank J. Carasiti of Wading River died Sept. 17 at Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk in East Northport. He was 78.
Born in Medford on Dec. 30, 1932, to Francis J. and Catherine Carasiti, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Carasiti was an educator who mentored students, teachers and administrators across the Island, according to family members and school officials. He served more than 47 years as superintendent in several Long Island school districts, including Rocky Point, and was the namesake of a Rocky Point elementary school.
Mr. Carasiti is survived by his wife, Vanessa; his children, Michelle Morin, David, Peter, Kevin, Keith, Timothy and Catherine; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visiting hours are scheduled for Sept. 19 and 20, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Alexander-Tuthill Funeral Home in Wading River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wed., Sept. 21, at St. Louis de Montfort R.C. Church in Sound Beach, the Rev. Pastor Charles Papa and Deacon Joseph Bartolotto officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
