Medical office park coming to Miller Place this spring
Miller Place is about to receive a new medical office park in a wooded-lot behind the CVS shopping center located on Route 25A.
Developer Paul Elliott, president of Medford-based Soundview Realty Group, said he is now waiting on permits from the Town of Brookhaven in order to build the 22,000-square foot medical center. Construction is expected begin in October.
“Miller Place doesn’t have a medical office park and there is a need in the area,” Mr. Elliott said, adding that the average size of each office will range from 1,500 to 4,000-square feet and the architectural design will match the CVS shopping center, which Mr. Elliott also developed.
In addition, Mr. Elliott said he is planning to connect both parking lots and will construct a new entrance to the CVS shopping center in order to improve traffic flow.
The new facility is expected to be completed this spring.
Mr. Elliot is the same developer behind the Mount Sinai Village Centre, a project that has been at a stalemate after a walk-on resolution to approve an environmental study for the project was killed by the Brookhaven Town Board earlier this month.
Walk-on resolutions in Brookhaven require two-thirds majority approval, and three town board members rejected Supervisor Mark Lesko’s bill at the recommendation of Councilwoman Jane Bonner. Ms. Bonner, who represents the Mount Sinai area, asked the Town Board to vote against Mr. Lesko’s resolution until her Route 25A Corridor Study is finalized in December to “give the project the proper review as it relates to the corridor,” she said.
Mr. Elliott said in an interview this week that while he would like to see the application process move forward as soon as possible, he is OK with waiting another couple of months.
“If Ms. Bonner needs more time to review, that’s fine,” he said. “It’s not the end of the world.”
