Kids sing and dance at Shake ‘N Make Music class
Little kids’ voices could be heard from just outside the basement of the First United Methodist Church in Port Jefferson on Wednesday afternoon.
About 15 kids, ages 15 months to 5 years old, and their parents were singing and dancing inside as part of the Shake ‘N Make Music program.
Heather Welkes, a former second grade teacher in the Shoreham-Wading River School District, started the program about a year ago with her brother, Neil Walowitz, who writes and plays the songs used during the classes.
“Our goal is to enrich kids with a love of music through movement,” Ms. Welkes said.
