TO FILL THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF BOARD OF EDUCATION TRUSTEE MICHAEL FERRARA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Special Election to fill the unexpired term of Board of Education Trustee Michael Ferrara for the qualified voters of the Rocky Point UFSD, Rocky Point, Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, New York, will be held at the Rocky Point High School, Rocky Point-Yaphank Road, Rocky Point, New York, in said District on Monday, September 27, 2010, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., prevailing time, for the transaction of business as authorized by the Education Law, as follows:
1. To elect one member of the Board of Education to fill the unexpired term of Board of Education Trustee Michael Ferrara expiring on June 30, 2012.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that said Special Election will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., prevailing time, at the Rocky Point High School, Rocky Point-Yaphank Road, Rocky Point, New York, at which time the polls will be opened to vote by voting machine upon the following items:

AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that petitions nominating candidates for the unexpired term of office of member of the Board of Education Michael Ferrara shall be filed with the Clerk of said School District at the Clerk's Office in the District Administrative Office, 90 Rocky Point-Yaphank Road Point, New York, not later than August 30, 2010, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., prevailing time. Such petitions must be directed to the Clerk of the District and must be signed by at least 31 qualified voters of the District; must state the name and resident of each signer, and must state the name and residence of the candidate.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that personal registration of voters is required either pursuant to § 2014 of the Education Law or pursuant to Article 5 of the Election Law. If a voter has heretofore registered pursuant to § 2014 of the Education Law and has voted at any Annual or Special District Meeting within the last four (4) calendar years, he or she is eligible to vote at this election. If a voter is registered and eligible to vote under Article 5 of the Election Law, he or she is also eligible to vote at this election. All other persons who wish to vote must register. Those wishing to register may do so at the Clerk's Office in the District Administrative Office, 90 Rocky Point-Yaphank Road Point, New York, during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday from August 16, 2010M to September 22, 2010.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that applications for absentee ballots will be obtainable during school business hours from the District Clerk, beginning August 30, 2010; completed applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk not later than 5:00 p.m., prevailing time, on Monday, September 27, 2010.
A list of persons to whom absentee ballots are issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the District in the Office of the District Clerk beginning on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, and each day thereafter prior to the day set for the election, as follows and at the polling place on the day of the vote: Thursday, September 23, 2010 and Friday, September 24, 2010, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

PROPOSALS FOR OPERATION OF THE TOWN OF BROOKHAVEN 'BRITE NITES' LIGHT SHOW
The Town of Brookhaven is seeking proposals from qualified entities or individuals that are financially, technically, and otherwise knowledgeable and capable of operating the Town of Brookhaven's "Brite Nites" Light Show. The show will run from November 26th, 2010, to January 4th, 2011.
The Town of Brookhaven will receive proposals until Friday, October 1, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the Town of Brookhaven Purchasing Division, Brookhaven Town Hall, One Independence Hill, Farmingville, NY 11738 (631) 451-6252. Documents will be available for pick-up at this address beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17th, 2010. Documents will be mailed only to those proposers located outside of Suffolk County.
There will be a pre-proposal meeting and site inspection on Friday, Sept. 24th, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the Brookhaven Ecology Site on Buckley Rd., Holtsville, NY 11742. Questions about this meeting should be directed to Dave Tokofsky at 631-451-9242. All proposers are strongly encouraged to attend.
